The Gulf Crossing

#32 Clearwater Beach Municipal Marina

177 NM in about 7.5 hours

We got under way around 9am. 63' with 12kn E winds and FOG. Sigh. We thought about turning around but the weather was not supposed to get any better the rest of the week, so today was our chance. We had some rain and most of the time we could barely see the front of the boat but we kept a close eye on the radar. About 20 miles out from Clearwater the sun came out and the fog went away and it was beautiful. Kinda creepy not being able to see land and have no cell service, but we were fine.

By 4:30pm we were docked at the marina. It was a hard tie up. Wind was blowing and the current was fighting us, but we got it. Michelle from the marina was there to lend a hand. Very nice young lady.

Dinner was close by at a restaurant called Marina Cantina. Yummy food and great service. Back to the boat for hopefully a good nights sleep.

Tomorrow we leave the boat and drive to Tampa to see visit some friends and then home for a bit.
