Harborside Marina
#5 Wilmington, IL Harborside Marina
64NM and 11hrs of travel.
Mike and I both were up about 5 AM this morning. Neither one of us could sleep very well. We got up, got ready, and took care of the doggies. Somehow it managed to be after seven before we were leaving Burnham, but all went fine. Lake Michigan was choppy. We got to Chicago Harbor Lock and got through it no problems, no wait. Traveling down downtown Chicago by water was really neat. Looking at all the buildings. Even saw a ferry boat go by with a yoga class going on.

We did the other locks, a little scary in the beginning, but we did just fine. One we had to wait a couple hours for and another we waited a little while for. Spent the night at Harborside Marina on down the line. Not much going on at this marina, very quiet, but at least we had a place to sleep and power to hook up to. They had about 2.5ft of water in spots so it was a nail biter, but we made it and had help on the docks waiting for us. All in all not a bad day. Long day, about 10 hours on the boat. Puppies did great but they were happy to potty once we got here. Dinner on boat and a few salty dogs.
